To join Science Fiction Book Club, simply choose your 5 introductory books at the club's website, then fill in your billing and shipping information and confirm your order. That's all there is to it. As a member you will receive the Club catalog up to 19 times a year (about every three weeks). Each issue of the catalog reviews the Featured Selections – books chosen by Sci-Fi Book Club editors as the must-reads of the moment – plus dozens of other books at savings up to 65% off publishers' prices. The catalog can be delivered to you in traditional paper format by postal mail, or you can opt to receive the electronic version via e-mail – look for Communication Preference tab at the signup.

To get the Featured Selection, don't do anything; it will be sent automatically unless you decline it by the designated date. The easiest way to do so -- or to order a different book -- is to respond through your account on the Club website. Alternatively, you can call SFBC by phone or do it the traditional way and return your Reply Card via regular mail by the deadline date shown. You’ll always have at least 10 days to decide. A shipping and processing charge (and sales tax, if applicable) is added to each order.

Needless to say, Featured Selections are merely suggestions made by the club's editorial panel. While they certainly can be useful, you are in no way obliged to follow them – you can buy whatever book you like whenever you like it, much like you would at any other online store.

After the initial order of 5 books for $1 each, you will have the obligation to buy 4 more books at SFBC's discounted prices and you can take up to one year to fulfill it. Note that SF Book Club offers you an opportunity to purchase your first commitment book for just $5.99 during the enrollment process -- it's an inexpensive way to reduce your obligation to 3 books right away.

Once your commitment is taken care of, you are free to cancel your membership at any time. You will always be welcome to re-join if you wish to buy more sci-fi books at a later date.
