To join Doubleday Book Club, simply pick your 5 introductory books at the club's website, then fill in your billing and shipping information and confirm your order. That's all there is to it. As a member you will receive the free Club catalog up to 19 times a year (about every three weeks). Each issue of the catalog reviews the Featured Selections – books chosen by DBC editors as the must-reads of the moment – plus over 90 other books at savings up to 50% off publishers' prices. The catalog can be delivered to you in traditional paper format by postal mail, or you can opt to receive the electronic version via e-mail – look for Communication Preference tab at the signup.

The Featured Selections will be shipped to you automatically, unless you cancel or order other book(s) instead by the deadline date. You can do so online (through your account on the Club website), by phone, or by returning the Member Reply Form via regular mail. You will always have at least 10 days to respond.

Needless to say, the Featured Selections are merely recommendations by the club's editorial panel. While they certainly can be useful, you are in no way obliged to follow them – you can buy whatever book you like whenever you like it, much like you would at any other online book store.

After the initial order of 5 books for 99¢ (plus S&H), you will have the obligation to buy 4 more books at DBC's discounted club prices and you can take up to one year to fulfill it. Doubleday Book Club offers you an opportunity to make your first Club purchase at the enrollment for just $5.99 and thus reduce your commitment to 3 books right away.

Once your commitment is taken care of, you are free to cancel your membership. Of course, you will always be welcome to rejoin if you wish to buy more books at a later date.
